Upgrade your system's performance with a DDR3 RAM upgrade from Crucial. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or professional, DDR3 offers reliability and power. If your PC laptop, desktop, server, or Mac system is slow, upgrading your memory could take as little as 5 minutes and will deliver immediate and lasting improvements.
Looking for more power? At Crucial you can also choose from a range or DDR4 and DDR5 components depending on your needs.
DDR3, or Double Data Rate 3, is a type of computer memory used to store data temporarily for faster access by the processor. DDR3 was released in 2007 and is a successor to DDR2. DDR3 RAM (random-access memory) sticks for a desktop computer have 240 pins. For a laptop computer, DDR3 RAM sticks have 204 pins.
These memory chips can only be installed on a motherboard that supports DDR3 memory and are not backward compatible with DDR2 memory slots.
Before buying a computer memory update, it's important to understand the capabilities of your system. Understanding the differences between DDR3, DDR4 and DDR5 will help you pick a product that's right for you and your computer. For example, investing in a memory upgrade with a clock speed higher than what your PC can support, will not have the desired speed and efficiency benefits you're looking for.
